How We Cover the County
Distance shapes the schedule more than the city name does. Jobs in Rancho Palos Verdes and across the rest of the Peninsula are the quickest to reach, and same-day slots are most often available there. Palos Verdes Estates, Rolling Hills Estates, Rolling Hills and the harbour cities are a short run out, and the inland and eastern cities take a little longer to fit in, though most are still booked within a day or two.
What changes over a few miles here is dramatic. On the bluff and seaward streets the problem is salt: caps, chase covers, spark arrestors and condenser coils corrode years early, and masonry stays damp under the marine layer. On the hillside streets it is wind and, in the active landslide area, ground that genuinely moves and separates chimneys from walls. Around the harbour the housing is a century old, often with unlined flues and wall furnaces still in service, and the air carries port and refinery particulate that loads filters in weeks. A few miles east the marine layer stops helping at all and cooling load becomes the dominant fact of the summer. Each city page describes what is typical for that area rather than repeating a general description.
Timing follows two seasons rather than one. Chimney and heating requests peak from October through January, when the first cold evenings arrive and the first storms find every tired cap and crown — so early autumn is the easiest time to book a sweep, an inspection or a furnace tune-up. Cooling calls peak in the first genuinely hot stretch of summer, which means spring is the sensible time to have a marginal air conditioner looked at rather than joining the August queue. Duct and dryer vent work is steadier through the year.
Access varies as much as the weather. Gated streets need a name left at the gatehouse, walk streets mean equipment is carried in by hand, clay tile roofs need boards and roof ladders rather than boots, and some association streets require an approved finish for anything visible on a roof. None of that is a problem when we know in advance, and all of it costs time and money when we do not — so the city pages say what to mention when you book.
If your address is not on this page, ask anyway — we go beyond this list for plenty of jobs. What you will get is a straight answer about whether we can reach you in a window that is any use to you. Where we cannot, we will say so rather than book you in and leave you waiting.
Not Sure We Reach Your Street?
Ask. If we cannot get to you in a reasonable window we will say so rather than book you in and hope.
